October: The 9th Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance Conference (9GC) <\/mark><\/strong>was held in Xi\u2019an, China, themed “Building Dreams, Spreading Love, Uniting Strength, and Blossoming”. The event drew 536 in-person attendees from 11 countries and 61 patient organizations, with over 860,000 online viewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

October: The 8th Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance Conference (8GC) was held in Hong Kong<\/mark><\/strong> under the theme “Creating Miracles with one heart”. The Conference was co-organized by GCBC, the Hong Kong Breast Oncology Group and The University of Hong Kong School of Nursing. \u00a0The hybrid event, witnessed by the Hong Kong Secretary for Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, attracted 3,105 participants from 35 regions. A highlight was the world record-breaking achievement of 1,050 participants performing a one-minute fitness routine together.<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

April:  GCBC Chairman Ms. Wong Mary was invited to be a panellist with the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Breast Cancer Initiative Working Group (GBCI), to develop a practical and impactful resource that equips national advocates and ministries of health with the key knowledge, information and messages needed to advance breast cancer control at country level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2018<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

March:  “Pink Hotline” +852 3618 8330 <\/mark><\/strong>was launched in Hong Kong, offering emotional support and guidance to patients undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GCBC became a member of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2018\u20132024: GCBC received the Social Capital Builder Award from Hong Kong\u2019s Labour and Welfare Bureau for three consecutive terms, acknowledging its dedication to patient services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2017<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

October: GCBC Chairwoman Ms. Mary Wong was awarded the “Patient Service Achievement Award” by the Susan G. Komen Foundation in recognition of her contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

April: GCBC formed the “Pink Angels” Volunteer Team<\/mark><\/strong> in Hong Kong, where breast cancer survivors provided free chemotherapy companionship to patients<\/mark><\/strong> in public hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2016<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

May 18: A delegation of 40 representatives from 11 China breast cancer groups and medical institutions travelled from Shanghai to Hong Kong for their first overseas training exchange. They visited the Hong Kong Baptist Hospital Breast Health Centre, Society for the Promotion of Hospice Care, Hong Kong Anticancer Society as well as the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation, gaining insights into patient support, peer groups, hospice and lymphedema management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

March 17: Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance (GCBC) was officially registered as a non-profit charitable organization in Hong Kong, recognized by the government as a non-profit entity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

January 2016: Seed Funding for Breast Cancer Patient Groups was established to support training and the development of newly formed breast cancer groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2015<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPink China\u201d movement was officially launched in January 2015, providing professional training and support to Chinese patient groups. The initiative aimed to enhance the professionalism and sustainability of breast cancer organizations in China. The first training session attracted 180 participants, including medical professionals, patient group leaders, social workers, and advocates from 14 hospitals and patient organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2014<\/strong>
The fifth conference featured experienced breast cancer organizations sharing innovative patient support models. This meeting significantly advanced breast cancer advocacy efforts in China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2007<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

November 27: The second conference took place, finalizing the alliance\u2019s charter and structure. It was decided that the conference would be held biennially, hosted by member organizations from different cities on a rotating basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2006<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

November 27: The first Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance Conference was held in Taichung, Taiwan, marking the establishment of the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance (GCBC). The alliance aimed to promote breast cancer education and support for Chinese patients through cross-regional collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
