World Cancer Congress 2026 Comes to Hong Kong for the First Time
The UICC World Cancer Congress brings together more than 2,000 cancer experts and patient advocates from over 120 countries. As a flagship event, it provides a vital platform for patient organisations worldwide to exchange ideas and forge meaningful connections. This year marks a historic milestone: the Congress is being held in Hong Kong for the first time, hosted by the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society.
The Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance is honoured to contribute to this global gathering as a member of the WCC Hong Kong Organising Committee and as Programme Lead for Theme 6, “The Patient Voice.”
At the opening ceremony, Chief Executive John Lee and WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus delivered congratulatory remarks online. In-person addresses were given by UICC President Ulrika Årehed Kågström, Secretary for Health Professor Lo Chung-mau, President of the Hong Kong Anti-Cancer Society Dr Leong Che-hung, and Director of China’s National Cancer Center Dr He Jie.
We were privileged to present in two sessions, deliver a spotlight talk, and moderate a session.
The Congress offered a valuable opportunity to connect with partners in the global fight against cancer, broaden our perspectives, and gain new insights. We leave inspired and more motivated than ever.
