Event Recap

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance, we proudly hosted the “Rise Because of You” Radiant Memories Exhibition at Central Market (1/F) from 21 to 23 September. Featuring 20 authentic cancer-fighting stories from Chinese survivors worldwide, the exhibition pays sincere tribute to every brave individual on the cancer journey.
The opening ceremony on 22 September gathered an array of distinguished guests and celebrities. Officiating guests included Dr. Fan Man-man, Under Secretary for Health ; Dr. Ko Wing-man, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Former Secretary for Food and Health ; Dr. Lam Chit-yuen, Member of the Legislative Council for the Medical and Health Services Constituency; Professor Shi Jianguo, Executive Director of the Cancer Rehabilitation Committee, China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA); Mr. Mathew Cleary, Project Director, Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), together with Alliance Honorary Chairperson Mrs. Chia Tsz-ping, Chairperson Mrs. Mary Wong Tin-fung, and legendary movie star Elaine Jin.
A two-time cancer survivor, Elaine Jin joined Alliance Chairperson Mrs. Mary Wong Tin-fung for an in-depth sharing session. She openly shared her emotional shock upon diagnosis, hardships throughout treatment, and inner struggles in overcoming physical changes caused by illness. She encouraged fellow patients: fear is inevitable, but it must not defeat you — you are never alone. She also urged the public to prioritize regular breast screening and offer more care and support to cancer patients. Beyond her sharing, Elaine enjoyed performances by cancer survivors, toured the exhibition, and embraced and cheered for fellow survivors, creating countless warm and touching moments.
Alliance Chairperson Mrs. Mary Wong Tin-fung extended heartfelt gratitude to Elaine Jin, all honorable guests, sponsors, and every member of the public who attended the event. Aside from the opening sharing, the three-day exhibition programme included medical talks, handicraft workshops, survivor sharing sessions and new book sharing events. Through these diverse activities, we aim to raise public awareness of breast health and strive to build a fear-free future for the breast cancer community.
