2025.06.06 “Asia-Pacific Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Exchange Forum” in Taiwan

GCBC Chairman Mary Wong participated in the “Asia-Pacific Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Exchange Forum”, hosted by the Taiwan Breast Cancer Alliance. Together with representatives from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore, she engaged in meaningful discussions on key issues in breast cancer prevention and treatment, fostering regional collaboration to support patients and advance awareness.

Highlights from the Exchange Forum:

The forum facilitated in-depth discussions on breast cancer screening policies, incidence rates, and mortality trends across different regions, alongside public awareness and attitudes toward prevention. Participants also exchanged insights on enhancing screening accessibility, optimizing healthcare resource allocation, and addressing challenges in government subsidies and patient support services.

The expert academic session featured cutting-edge advancements, ranging from 3D ultrasound screening technologies to psychosocial support frameworks for patients. These presentations provided invaluable inspiration for future initiatives in breast cancer care and advocacy.


2024 Event highlights

2024.12.6-8 ESMO Patient Engagement Summit (PES) Singapore

Steering Committee member Staphnie Tang attended the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) – Patient Engagement Summit in Singapore, the Summit aim at bringing together patient advocates, healthcare professionals, and industry representatives to advance patient engagement, foster education, and strengthen networks to shape impactful health policy in the Asia-Pacific region.

2024.11.13-14 “Patient Advocacy Summit – Asia” in Tokyo

In mid-November, Chairman Mary Wong attended the “Patient Advocacy Summit – Asia” in Tokyo, Japan. This significant gathering brought together cancer patient advocates from across the Asia-Pacific region, including representatives from Beijing, Wenzhou, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, and South Korea. The summit served as a platform to share valuable experiences, foster collaboration, and strengthen regional advocacy networks for cancer patients.

During the conference, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on enhancing patient influence in healthcare decision-making, with a strong emphasis on the critical role of partnerships in driving meaningful change. Ms. Wong shared GCBC’s successful case studies in amplifying patient voices through grassroots networks.

Additionally, she led an interactive workshop on integrating patient perspectives and needs into policy and decision-making processes. This dynamic session not only facilitated mutual learning but also reinforced the power of collective action among all attendees.

2024.09.17- 19 World Cancer Congress – Advocating for Policy Change in the Asia-Pacific

The 2024 World Cancer Congress (WCC), held from September 17–19 in Geneva, Switzerland, was organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) with support from the WHO. The event gathered over 2,000 experts, physicians, patient advocates, and policymakers from 122 countries to exchange knowledge and advance discussions on:

  • Cancer prevention & early detection
  • Innovations in treatment
  • Global equity in care access

As an invited speaker, GCBC Chairman Mary Wong delivered a presentation titled “Lived Experiences of Patient Advocacy and Policy Change in the Asia-Pacific Region,” sharing insights on Hong Kong’s community-driven efforts in drug approvals and cancer policy reform. Her discussion highlighted strategies to accelerate progress in cancer prevention and care through patient-led advocacy.

2024.11.16-17 World Health Organization (WHO)  Meeting in Switzerland – Co-Creeating Cancer Priorities 2030

From September 16–17, 2024,  GCBC Chairman Mary Wong attended the World Health Organization (WHO) meeting in Switzerland, themed *”Co-Creating Cancer Priorities 2030″

The meeting brought together 120 cancer patient advocates and emerging patient leaders to focus on three key themes:

  • Government priorities in cancer control
  • Collaboration between patients and stakeholders
  • Innovative engagement of NGOs and the private sector

Ms. Wong seized this global platform to amplify the voices of Chinese-speaking cancer patients, ensuring their unique challenges were recognized in international policy dialogues.

2024.05.25 Shenzhen “525 Love Your Breast Day” & Launch Ceremony of the 10th Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance Conference

On May 25, 2024, GCBC Chairman Mary Wong and Service Director Wendy were invited to Shenzhen as keynote speakers for the forum “Philanthropy and Social Sustainability under the ESG Framework.”

The event also marked the official launch ceremony for the 10th Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance Conference (10GC) to be held in 2025. Ms. Wong presented the official confirmation letter to Ms. Wu Hongxuan, Chairperson of Shenzhen Pink Ribbon, symbolizing the beginning of preparations for this landmark event.

Centered around the theme “Pink Ribbon, Let Love Bloom,” the forum brought together experts, scholars, and community leaders to discuss:

  • Sustainable development of public welfare initiatives
  • Breast health screening and scientific prevention
  • Early detection and treatment advocacy

The program was structured around five key pillars:

  • “Solidarity in Love” – Community empowerment
  • “Advocating Health” – Prevention awareness
  • “Dedication of Honor” – Recognizing contributions
  • “Gathering Warmth” – Support networks
  • “Building the Future” – Long-term strategies

The event was livestreamed to maximize its reach, reinforcing the message of “early prevention, early detection, and early treatment” as the pathway to comprehensive breast health management.

2023.5.10-11 UICC Regional Dialogues – Asia-Pacific: Advancing Women’s Cancer Prevention in Manila

The two-day Union International Cancer Control (UICC) Regional Dialogue for Asia-Pacific was held on May 10-11, in Manila, focusing on critical women’s cancers such as cervical and breast cancer.

GCBC’s groundbreaking success of the “One-Minute Health Challenge” world record campaign, demonstrating the power of community engagement in prevention efforts

An official invitation to the 9th Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance Conference this October in Xi’an – a pivotal gathering for advancing regional collaboration,

This dialogue served as an important platform to:

  • Strengthen multi-sectoral approaches to women’s cancer control
  • Share evidence-based interventions for early detection
  • Foster partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region

GCBC participation underscored its leadership in transforming breast cancer advocacy into measurable public health impact.

“Love for Life” New Life Symposium: Global Chinese Breast Cancer Alliance Collaborates with Singapore Breast Cancer Foundation to Support Women’s Health

2023.3.28 “Love for Life” Singapore

In celebration of International Women’s Month, the Singapore Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) joined the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance to co-organize the “Love for Life” New Life Chinese Symposium. The event brought together medical experts and survivors from across the Chinese-speaking world to discuss post-treatment recovery, emotional resilience, and rebuilding life after breast cancer.

Cross-Border Dialogue: Medical Expertise & Survivor Wisdom:

The symposium featured two distinguished speakers:

Dr. Guan Jinghong (Breast Surgeon, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Beijing): Shared the latest medical insights on breast cancer treatment and recovery.

Ms. Huang Shufang (Chairperson, Taiwan Breast Cancer Alliance): Spoke from a survivor’s perspective on community support, self-empowerment, and reclaiming life after diagnosis.

Through personal stories, expert advice, and interactive discussions, the event provided practical guidance on physical recovery, emotional well-being, and societal reintegration, with a focus on challenges unique to Chinese-speaking women.

由「深圳市粉紅絲帶乳腺關愛中心」發起的10月25日「粉紅絲帶愛乳日」,今年踏入第12個年頭,特取數字“25”普通語諧音“愛乳”,以強化愛乳訊息,成為“救乳”的密碼。

今年大會特別以「點亮粉紅,點亮“她”心願」為主題,透過互聯網,在同一時間的不同地點上,共同點亮全球的地標轉化成粉紅色,通過點亮的瞬間,提升自己和他人對乳癌的認識,並在剎那間,蛻變成中華粉紅絲帶關愛的義工。

全球華人乳癌組織聯盟王天鳳女士特代表香港,與北京、渥太華、成都、廣州及杭州……等地的各界知名人士,如:粉紅絲帶關愛基金發起人李蘇女士、中國抗癌協會康復會會長史安利女士、母乳愛公益發起人徐靚女士、乳房重建外科聯盟創建人韓寶三先生,以及多位醫生、教育專家、作家、及文化學者,一同為粉紅絲帶關愛發聲拍攝宣傳片,希望能令更多朋友關注乳房健康。

2019.12.15 Innovate and build with one heart

“Innovate and build with one heart” – a patient groups seminar supported by GCBC, was held in December in Xian China. The purpose of the seminar is to enhance the management skill of new patient groups and conduct professional and targeted training through sharing and workshops.

2019.10.2 The “Integrating Patients Engagement in Access to Medicines and Healthcare” round table

GCBC representatives attended The “Integrating Patients Engagement in Access to Medicines and Healthcare” round table held by CoRE and FasterCures in Singapore. Participants at the roundtable included patient organizations, medical groups, government agencies, medical policy makers and drug regulatory agencies. During the meeting, participants shared ideas on patient support and discussed obstacles patients groups faced in implementing services in their areas 

2019.6.12-15 19th International Breast Cancer Conference Reach for Recovery International (RRI)

 GCBC members, led by our Steering Committee member, Ms JoAn Huang, attended the 19th International Breast Cancer Conference Reach for Recovery International (RRI) in Prague, Czech Republic. The theme of this international conference is “Building Bridges toward Recovery”. 

2019.4.19- 29 GCBC Honorary President Ms. Grace Jia promote breast cancer support

GCBC Honorary President Ms. Grace Jia together with other Steering Committee members, Dr. Tang Lichen from Fudan University Hospital and members of the Shanghai Pink Butterfly patients group went to oncology hospitals in Dehong, Kunming, Hangzhou and Shenyang to promote breast cancer support, management of patient groups among nursing staff, social workers and volunteers.。

2019.3.29 War On Cancer Asia 2019

GCBC Chairman, Ms. Mary Wong was invited as speaker at “War On Cancer Asia 2019” event in Singapore, sharing our views with representatives from health departments, medical practitioners, other non-profit organizations and patient groups around the world, to promote cancer prevention and improve patient care services.

2019.3.26- 27 2019 CEO Leadership in Action

GCBC Chairman, Ms. Mary Wong attended the “CEO Leadership in Action” international exchange seminar in Singapore. The event was organized by the Union International Cancer Control (UICC). More than 80 leaders from UICC member organizations gathered to discuss leadership challenges and how to strengthen regional cooperation.

2018.11.5 Henan Provincial Cancer Rehabilitation Training workshop

Ms. Grace Jia, GCBC Honorary President, was invited by the Henan Anti-Cancer Association and Zhengzhou Charity Federation to host training sessions at the “Henan Provincial Cancer Rehabilitation Training workshop “. More than one hundred medical staff and volunteers engaging in cancer rehabilitation work participated in the three-day training.

2018.10.27- 28 2018 Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organization Ability Enhancement Symposium” & “The 3rd Global Anti-Cancer Xi’an City Wall Walk”

Organized by the Xi’an Cancer Rehabilitation Association and supported by UICC and the China Anti-Cancer Association, GCBC initiated the “2018 Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organization Ability Enhancement Symposium” & “The 3rd Global Anti-Cancer Xi’an City Wall Walk” in Xi’an, China. GCBC Honorary President Ms. Grace Jia, Chairman Ms. Mary Wong, Steering Committee members Dr. Tang Lichen and Ms. Yang Jie attended and spoke at the symposium. The symposium focused on improving the management capabilities and work of breast cancer groups in China.

The “Anti-Cancer City Wall Walk” attracted thousands of and helped to spread the message of fighting cancer together.

2018.10.01-04 UICC “World Cancer Congress”

GCBC Chairman, Ms. Mary Wong and Ms. Candy Lai attended the UICC “World Cancer Congress” in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. They also participated in the “Master Course on patient support”, a cancer support professional course by UICC.
